Alternative University Rankings

Published: October 11, 2016

The hysteria around college rankings can seem somewhat ridiculous. Although it is a powerful marketing tool for universities who want to attract the brightest and most ambitious talent, the rankings are not necessarily 100% trustworthy when it comes to finding the perfect fit for you. This has little to do with their quality, but rather the fact that they are naturally generic, and thus disregard certain areas that may be of interest to the individual.

Your university or college will serve not only as a place to learn, but also as your home, your social environment and the location of your free time activities. The acceptance rate, number of nobel laureates among faculty and employment rate upon graduation may not fully indicate whether you’ll be happy with your choice.

Perhaps you value a healthy, well-rounded diet? Perhaps you are an aspiring journalist and care about the quality, reach and reputation of the student paper? Maybe sports is your true passion, and therefore would like to attend a school with good sporting opportunities for students? All these different factors are relevant when considering which university to apply for. We have compiled a few alternative college ranking lists to look at if you’re looking to apply for colleges in America, that can help out when making a decision. Please see below:
