Matters of the Heart
Published: January 24, 2017
Today was the first day of spring classes here at NYU and it was absolutely marvelous to step back in through the red Strasberg studio doors and have my first Movement and Singing classes in eight months. And in being welcomed back by my former classmates and teachers, I feel so thankful for this supportive and creative environment that I never would’ve imagined I could be a part of when I first arrived here back in August 2014. In this building I’ve come to understand what the performing arts is all about: learning about and exploring knowledge and parts of myself that I didn’t even know existed, and doing it together with others, for purposes way bigger than anyone of us. It’s been harder than anything else I’ve ever done, but it’s also been the entirely best years of my life and I’m so happy to be able to continue this journey.
They say that in matters of the heart you know when you’ve got it right, and right now, there’s no other place in the world I’d rather be.
