In addition to engineering (and related science and technical degrees), the college is renowned in the field of medicine, and has more recently established strong programmes in business education. Located in the prestigious and beautiful South Kensington area of London, Imperial attracts students from around the world. Few people know about the rich history of Imperial College. Both the invention of Penicillin and Heroin can be traced back to the laboratory in St Mary’s Hospital which is part of the Imperial College Healthcare Trust. The school’s history does not only relate to scientific discovery. In fact, the world renowned rock band Queen was formed att the school when Brian May placed an advert on the notice board in the Union of the College looking for a drummer. Roger Taylor responded, leading to the formation of the historic band. Queen performed one of their first gigs in the Union Concert Hall of the school.
