About Stanford University

Possibly the most prestigious university in the world – many argue it trumps both Harvard and the British Oxbridge schools – Stanford is a multi-faculty university located outside of San Francisco on the Californian coast, in the heart of Silicon Valley. It is indeed the connections with the technology innovation and entrepreneurship of Silicon Valley that has propelled the prominence of the school over the last few decades, and it would be hard to imagine one without the other. Technology aside, Stanford offers some of the best faculty across academic disciplines, and indeed a wonderful campus with world class facilities.

Student life offers most one could wish for, and a highlight of the social calendar is the “Big Game”, an annual American football game between Stanford and its occasional rival UC Berkeley, often played at the Stanford Stadium (which seats over 50,000).

Companies founded by alumni of Stanford generate more than $2.7 trillion in annual revenue – equivalent to the 10th-largest economy in the world, and among the alumni are 30 or so living billionaires.
