February… For some an unnecessary prolongation of winter, for others the month of awards. Oscars. BAFTAs. SAGs. And Grammys! This year’s Grammy ceremony was as spectacular as the winners and it has got us feeling pretty sad that our invitation got lost in the mail. While it may be too late for us to get a music education and secure that frow (understand first row) spot at the next Grammys, we figured we could at least help you get there.
So if you’re serious about a future in music, here are some of the most prestigious courses in the world to consider.
The Juillliard School
The The Juilliard School offers degrees in dance, drama and music. The latter forms the biggest division of the school with its twenty-one different majors including jazz, piano, organ, composition, voice/opera or orchestral conducting. The school is located in New York City, which gives its students the opportunity to perform at leading concert halls as well as smaller jazz clubs.

Berklee College of Music
There must be something in the water of the East Coast! Berklee College is based in the university town city of Boston. The principal focus of this college is not solely to study musical instruments like with the above mentioned colleges but to have a more practical approach to the music industry as well. Students can major in music business, education and therapy, film scoring or song-writing. It is safe to say that the people at this college know what to do – this year Berklee alumni won 13 Grammys!
